"I work seven days a week to deliver results for the Lowcountry and I promise no one will work harder," she wrote. "Serving the Lowcountry is the honor of my lifetime."

Mace has represented South Carolina's 1st congressional district since 2021. She is being challenged in the Republican primary by Austin Anderson, Catherine Templeton, Bill Young, and her former chief of staff Daniel Hanlon.

Mac Deford and Michael B. Moore are seeking the Democratic nomination. Moore filed to run on March 26.

South Carolina's 1st congressional district is the subject of a federal lawsuit from the NAACP. The lawsuit alleges the district was racially gerrymandered in 2022 after more than two-thirds of Black Charleston were moved out of it.

The same day Mace filed for re-election, a federal court ruled the current map will be used in the 2024 election in order to maintain current procedures while a Supreme Court decision is pending.
