The fire staff at North Charleston Station 2 is spending their day serving the community and getting their vehicles fixed.

Multiple cars in their parking lot were broken into and personal items were stolen early Tuesday morning.

Engineer Kyle Lewis’ driver-side window was destroyed, but the North Charleston Professional Firefighters' Association is helping to cover the costs of the damages.

After the robberies, what was left was a pile of glass.

"It was very frustrating and disheartening," Lewis said.

Eleven vehicles at North Charleston Fire Station 2 were broken into.

"I actually didn't have any personal items taken out of my car," Lewis said. "I was lucky there. I believe a couple of the other guys did. I'm not sure to what extent they quoted me around $270."

Now engineer Lewis and his colleagues are working to get back to normalcy.

"We all kind of grin and bear it," Lewis said. "We're used to seeing a lot of the interesting stuff here. At first, it was frustration. We started making some light humor out of it a little bit. It is still very frustrating."

Those affected are pushing for additional safety measures in their parking lot as they work lengthy hours serving the community.

"Going forward, I would say just watching what valuables and any cash or any personal items," Lewis said, "just be very aware of that. Be cautious of things that you don't want taken."

As of now, no arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
