Democrat Michael B. Moore announced Monday a slate of "citizen supporters" and a distinction from a gun-reform organization.

Moore is now a 2024 Moms Demand Action Gun Sense Candidate, joining Mac Deford as the other candidate in South Carolina's 1st Congressional District to earn that distinction.

Additionally, Moore earned the support of state Sen. Marlon Kimpson, Charleston City Council Member Keith Waring, Renee Harvey, Awendaw Mayor Miriam Green, former Charleston County Associate Probate Judge Tamara Curry, and attorney Dr. Eduardo Curry.

"I'm incredibly grateful to have earned the support of this diverse group of advocates, elected officials and citizen leaders," Moore said. "They share our hopeful vision of the future of this district – and they agree that this campaign is best positioned to energize our Democratic base, persuade independent-minded Republicans and assemble the coalition needed to win in November."

Moore's first round of "citizen supporters" was released in April, featuring former Charleston Mayor John Tecklenburg and former Beaufort Mayor Billy Keyserling, along with others.

The Democratic primary will be held on June 11. Democrat voters will be picking between Moore and Deford.

On the Republican side of the ticket, which will also hold its primary on June 11, Rep. Nancy Mace is running for reelection and facing primary challenges from Catherine Templeton and Bill Young.
