The 911 calls of a deadly 2023 Longs-area shooting were released on Tuesday.

Weldon Boyd, a business owner in North Myrtle Beach, was named as a person involved in the shooting that happened on Highway 9 and Camp Swamp Road in September 9, 2023.

An Horry County Police Dept. incident report detailed the deadly shootout between two drivers. The report and the Horry County Coroner identified 33-year-old Scott Spivey as the suspect and the deceased. The name listed as a victim was redacted in the report.

Nearly two weeks after the incident, Boyd was identified as the second shooter.

A series of 911 calls, including the one made by Boyd, were released.

WARNING: The audio of these 911 calls may be disturbing to some as they include strong language. Discretion is advised.

Boyd is heard telling the 911 dispatcher their location and the frantic moments leading up to the shooting.

Listen, this dude shoots at me. We're going to put him down. I mean, this dude's insane," Boyd told dispatch.

During the 911 call, Boyd said that the person in the other truck put their gun out again.

Sir, this guy aims that gun at me. We're going to have to shoot him," Boyd said.

Other bystanders from the scene also reported the incident to 911.

Somebody just shot somebody in the middle of the road. I am at, um, the corner of Camp Swamp Road and somebody just unloaded, shot through his windshield and shot this guy," Bystander 1 told the dispatcher.

On September 15, 2023, 15th Circuit Solicitor Jimmy Richardson sent a letter to State Attorney General Alan Wilson to ask him to review the investigation.

Richardson's request came after Boyd made a Facebook post thanking law enforcement for their involvement in the case.

However, earlier this month, the South Carolina Attorney General's Office said they sent a letter to the State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) declining to prosecute the shooting due to insufficient evidence.
