Ladson man faces charges for child sexual abuse material possession, distribution

A Ladson man was arrested Tuesday on charges related to possessing and distributing child sexual abuse material, the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office said.

Charles Anthony Garris, 55, of Craven Road, was arrested and charged with eight counts of sexual exploitation of a minor second-degree and sex offender registry violation, law enforcement officials said.

On April 25, law enforcement conducted a search warrant at Garris' residence. During the search, investigators discovered Garris was sending and receiving child sexual abuse material.

Garris is currently on the Berkeley County Sex Offender Registry.

His bond following the arrest was set at $402,100.

The investigation will continue and additional criminal charges are anticipated, law enforcement officials said.
