HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WPDE) — The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division is conducting an inquiry after an inmate at J. Reuben Long Detention Center was found unresponsive in their cell.
An officer found the inmate unresponsive around 1 p.m. on Monday and alerted medical personnel.
RECOMMENDED: 12, including 2 fugitives, arrested in Horry County & MB joint shoplifting operation
The inmate was transported to a nearby hospital, where they passed away.
The Horry County Coroner's Office said they do not identify victims in natural or suicidal deaths and therefore, no additional information will be provided at this time.
Officials said no foul play is suspected.
