HGTC breaks ground on healthcare education facility expansion

Horry-Georgetown Technical College held a groundbreaking ceremony on Monday for the expansion of its Nursing and Health Sciences Institute.

The institute is a state-of-the-art facility that will be home to 18 healthcare programs and community partners is located on the Grand Strand campus.

The president of HGTC, Dr. Marilyn Fore, shared her excitement and said the ceremony was a transformative moment.

We were able to integrate this building into the community and now turn it into something even greater, in being able to now provide healthcare training.

HGTC plans to expand by approximately 24,100 square feet by the end of 2025 and increase nursing enrollment to 600 students by 2030.
