Man no longer charged following Florence Co. investigation on Hoffmeyer Road

FLORENCE COUNTY, S.C. (WPDE) — Members of the Florence County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team responded to Hoffmeyer Road in Florence Tuesday afternoon.

Original reports said a man was charged with unlawful communication, however, deputies said after further investigation he will not be charged.

Florence County Sheriff TJ Joye said he would be taken to the hospital for a mental evaluation.

The investigation was prompted by a complaint alleging that the individual sent text messages to another person, that were "obscene, indecent, profane and/or immoral," according to a release from Sheriff Joye.
