Several of slain conservative leader Charlie Kirk’s closest friends and colleagues honored his legacy during his memorial service at State Farm Stadium in Arizona on Sunday, urging the crowd to honor his memory by continuing to serve God.
Christian apologist Frank Turek, speaking to the tens of thousands of people at the memorial, said that everyone should honor Jesus, Kirk, and his widow, Erika, so that every day “the devil shrieks ‘oh no, they’re awake again.'”
He told the crowd Kirk’s place in heaven was secured “not because he was a great husband, father, or patriot, but because his Savior sacrificed himself for Charlie Kirk.” He emphasized the Christian message of grace over justice, declaring, “This is the greatest story ever told, and it happens to be true.”
“Charlie’s been like a son to me,” Turek said, recalling the moments after the Sept. 10 assassination. He described running with Kirk’s security team toward the SUV, saying, “No father would stand back and go, ‘no, you just take my son. Take him. I’ll meet you at the hospital. I got into the back of the SUV.'”
He praised the team as “amazing” and said that when the full investigation is complete, “you’re going to see that his team did everything they were supposed to do.”
Even as he recounted the loss, Turek pointed to faith as Kirk’s foundation and legacy. “Charlie Kirk is in heaven because his Savior sacrificed himself for Charlie Kirk. There’s only two things in the afterlife: justice or grace. I want grace,” he said.
Turek urged mourners to continue Kirk’s mission of faith and influence. “Charlie knew that the purpose of life is to know Jesus and to make him known — to make heaven crowded,” he concluded.
Several of the leaders of Kirk’s organization, Turning Point USA, also spoke as the memorial unfolded, encouraging those in attendance to carry on his legacy.
Together, they painted a portrait of Kirk not only as a leader and strategist, but also as a man whose faith and personal kindness left a lasting imprint on those closest to him.
Andrew Kolvet, executive producer of “The Charlie Kirk Show,” praised his late boss’ tireless work ethic and pledged to keep the program running.
Stacy Sheridan of Turning Point USA described Kirk’s quiet generosity as he supported her through her husband’s cancer, his death, and later a devastating house fire, ultimately urging her and her daughter to relocate to Arizona with his and Erika’s help.
Tyler Bowyer, the chief operating officer of Turning Point USA and Turning Point Action, shared how Kirk’s determination and Erika’s strength shaped the organization, recalling with humor how what began as a recruiting conversation turned into Kirk’s marriage.
