(COLUMBIA, S.C.) -- Governor Nikki Haley proclaimed Friday as Prisoner of War/Missing in Action (POW/MIA) Recognition Day.
In a statement, Gov. Haley said she encourages "all South Carolinians to remember in a special way those who have suffered the horrors of enemy captivity, those who have yet to return from battle, and the families who maintain their steadfast vigil in search of the peace that comes only with certainty."
Gov. Haley has requested that flags in South Carolina be lowered to half staff on Friday.
