(CONWAY, S.C.) -- A 19-year-old student of Coastal Carolina University is dead following a shooting at a school residence hall on Tuesday night.
The shooting was reported shortly after 7:20 p.m. at University Place residence hall, with Conway Police and CCU Police responding to find sophomore Anthony Darnell Liddell suffering from gunshot wounds, the university said in a statement.
Liddell was taken to an area hospital and was later pronounced dead.
According to the university statement, the shooter fled the scene in a vehicle, and remains at large.
Residence halls remained under lockdown throughout the night, with school officials saying that classes will be held on Wednesday as scheduled. Counseling will also reportedly be available for students.
