(MT. PLEASANT, S.C.) -- A Mt. Pleasant Town Council member was arrested on Saturday night, accused of driving under the influence of alcohol.

Council member John Burn, 52, was arrested after police responded to the area of Coleman Boulevard and Fairmont Avenue around 9:35 p.m. on a report of a crash. In published reports, police said the vehicle Burn was driving was found to have rear-ended another vehicle.

Burn was taken into custody after failing a number of field sobriety tests.
