1250 WTMA News Team

Fred Storey is no stranger to Charleston radio. He came to 1250 WTMA in 1998 after serving as morning co-host and news director of WBUB-FM. Fred also worked on the air doing a night show in Charleston for years, and has won two Silver Addy Awards for his local commercial production. He has also won numerous news awards, and was the 1998 South Carolina Broadcasters Association Newscaster of the Year. Fred started his career in broadcasting after graduating from St. Andrews Presbyterian College in North Carolina with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and History. His first full-time job was in the news department at WFNC in Fayetteville, N.C. Fred moved to Charleston with his family in 1987. He's married and has two sons; one is a naval nuclear officer and the other attends the University of South Carolina. Fred enjoys swimming, golfing, and playing with his golden retriever.

Tessa Spencer, a native of Charleston, South Carolina, received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communications from Charleston Southern University. Her on-air career spans over 16 years and includes positions in Greenville, SC Nashville, TN and Providence, RI. In 1999, Tessa took over as a morning co-host of WWWZ FM, a position she still holds to this day. Listen to Tessa deliver the news daily on WTMA.

WTMA Reporter and Anchor Michael Brown has been with the WTMA news team since March of 2006 -- and loves every minute of it. After graduating from the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor's Degree in Broadcast Journalism, Michael began working as a part-time DJ for sister station 95SX. He is also a member of the 95SX Two Girls and A Guy Morning Show, where he's known as "Father" Michael Brown as he express his morals and values on the air. Michael enjoys writing and telling local and state news stories so they relate to a large group of people, as he is also a state news reporter/anchor for the South Carolina Radio Network. When not focusing on daily news, Michael is a worship leader at Summit Church at Charleston Southern University. He loves singing, photography, writing, painting and spending time with his wife Heather and son Connor.
